When she was just two weeks old, this wolf-German Shepherd mix was abandoned; her devoted owners came to save her from that predicament. Seven years later, Shana would arrive to save them—a total surprise to them. Her owners, Norman and Eve Fertig, were caught under a falling tree branch in 2006 when trying to flee a severe snowfall in upstate New York. Shana dug a trench and was able to bring her loving owners to safety. She kept them warm from that point on using her own body heat until the fire department arrived.
